# Article brief library

> Where completed article briefs are filed, so the thinking behind every published article stays findable and linked to the article it produced.

This is where completed [article briefs](/article-brief) are filed, per the [article process](/article-process), with links to the published article each one produced.

A brief is filed before writing starts, not after publication. Filing it early means the strategy is on record from the moment anyone begins drafting, and anyone who needs to see what was decided can find it while the work is still live.

## The library

Briefs are named per the [file naming conventions](/file-naming-conventions), with `ART` as the prefix:

`ART_deployment-pipeline-decay_2027-10-14_v01.md`

*The first two rows are examples using Doughnut Labs, a company that sells Doughnut Technology. Delete them and fill in your own.*

## What gets filed here

* **Every article brief**, both tiers, whether or not the article was published.
* **Abandoned briefs**, with a note on why the article stopped. The research is usually still useful, and the reason it stalled is worth knowing before someone briefs the same topic again.
* **Rewrite briefs**, when a hero article is rewritten rather than updated. File the new brief alongside the original, keeping the same article ID and URL.

Briefs are versioned rather than overwritten. When an article is rewritten, save a new brief with the next version number so the history of what the article was originally meant to do stays intact.
