# Display creative specs

> Image, video, and text asset specs for Google responsive display ads, and how they differ from Performance Max.

Every figure on this page comes from Google's own specification pages, checked 28 July 2026. Sources are listed at the bottom.

  Responsive display ads are asset-based. You supply headlines, descriptions, images, and logos; Google assembles them into layouts across the Display Network. You are designing components, not a finished banner.

<Warning>
  The square recommendation here is **600 × 600**, not the 1200 × 1200 that Performance Max recommends. If you reuse one asset library across both, export the square at 1200 × 1200 — it satisfies both, since it clears the display minimum comfortably.

## How display differs from Performance Max

## Working notes

* **Design for unknown crops.** Your assets are recombined into many layouts and sizes. Anything near an edge is at risk; centre the logo and focal subject.
* **Avoid baked-in text.** Google adds its own headline and description. Text burned into the image competes with them and often reads as clutter at small sizes.
* **Supply both required ratios properly.** Uploading only 1.91:1 leaves Google to crop a square itself, usually badly.
