# Search, Demand Gen and uploaded display specs

> The remaining Google Ads formats: responsive search ads, Demand Gen assets, and the fixed banner sizes for uploaded display ads.

The Google formats not covered by [Performance Max](/google-pmax-creative-specs) or [responsive display](/google-display-creative-specs). Current as of 28 July 2026.

## Responsive search ads

No image or video creative is required. Image assets are added separately.

  Demand Gen headlines allow 40 characters, unlike the 30 elsewhere in Google Ads. Include at least one headline of **30 characters or fewer** so the ad stays eligible to serve on Display.

## Uploaded display ads

GIF, JPG, or PNG. **Maximum 150 KB.** Copy is baked into the creative. Animated GIFs must finish within 30 seconds and run below 5 FPS.

## Working notes

* **150 KB is the real constraint.** At 970 × 250 that is tight; flatten gradients and limit animation frames rather than dropping quality across the board.
* **Start from the four highest-traffic sizes** — 300 × 250, 728 × 90, 160 × 600, 320 × 50 — then extend the set once the layout survives all four.
* **Type has to work at 50 px tall.** Design the mobile banner first; if the message fits there it will scale up.
