# Template directory

> Every SEO template in one list: the article writing template, the registers an article gets filed in, and the shared templates that apply. Use it to find the right template without opening the Templates tab.

A template is a blank sheet you copy and fill in. Everything on this page is one of those. The concepts and standards pages at the bottom hold the reasoning behind what goes in them.

## Article templates

The template holds the draft. What the draft has to obey (heading hierarchy, length, structure ratios, slugs, metadata, links, schema, and dates) lives in [article standards](/article-standards), so the numbers stay in one place.

## Registers

A register is a table you add a row to. Templates and registers both get filled in as part of publishing an article.

  An article and a landing page are different things and use different templates. An article exists to be found by someone searching; a landing page exists to produce one action from traffic you paid to send. If the page has to rank, it's an article.
