Use this template for real estate listings, for sale or for rent. If you’re listing ecommerce products, hotels, vehicles, flights, or destinations instead, see the Meta Commerce catalog templates overview for the matching type.
Meta’s own documentation has the authoritative, complete column list for this vertical, and it wasn’t fully accessible while researching this page (Meta’s help center blocks automated fetches). What’s below covers the fields independently confirmed across multiple sources. Confirm the full field list against Meta’s real estate ads documentation before building a production feed, since required fields also vary by market.
This isn’t legal advice. Confirm fair housing compliance with your legal or compliance team before publishing a home listing catalog.
- CSV, TSV, RSS XML, ATOM XML, or a Google Sheet, one row per listing, with a header row naming each column.
- Required fields vary by market; confirm the current set for the countries you list in.
Column template
This is a representative subset, not the complete spec. Verify the full required and optional column list, and any market-specific requirements, against Meta’s documentation linked above before a first upload.
home_listing_id is this vertical’s unique key; it isn’t interchangeable with the other verticals’ ID fields.
price follows the pattern used across every Meta catalog type: a number plus a three-letter ISO 4217 currency code.
availability should reflect actual listing status (for example, for sale, for rent, sold, off market) rather than being left static once a property transacts.
Data and compliance rules
- Housing ads fall under Meta’s Special Ad Category. You have to certify a campaign built on this catalog as a housing ad, and Meta then restricts age, gender, and zip code radius targeting for it, following the 2022 settlement with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This applies to the campaign built on top of the catalog, not the feed file itself, but it affects every ad account running housing ads.
- Meta’s general advertising standards, including its prohibitions on deceptive or misleading claims, apply to real estate listings the same as any other catalog.
- Fair housing law (and equivalent rules outside the US) prohibits discriminatory advertising language regardless of platform; that’s a legal obligation independent of Meta’s Special Ad Category mechanism.
