Use this template for a standard ecommerce product catalog: physical or digital products sold through Shops, Instagram Shopping, or catalog ads. If you’re listing hotels, vehicles, flights, destinations, or real estate instead, see the Meta Commerce catalog templates overview for the matching type.
This isn’t legal advice. Confirm claims, pricing accuracy, and category eligibility with your legal or compliance team before publishing a catalog.

File format

  • CSV, TSV, RSS XML, ATOM XML, or a Google Sheet. CSV is the simplest to build and edit by hand.
  • One row per item, with a header row naming each column.
  • A single catalog holds one item type only. Don’t mix products with hotels, vehicles, or any other catalog type.
  • Meta also supports JSON for programmatic uploads through the Marketing API’s batch endpoints, but a hand-built or exported feed almost always uses CSV, TSV, or XML instead.

Data and compliance rules

  • Meta prohibits fraudulent, misleading, or deceptive listings, and reviews for willful misrepresentation, exaggerated claims, and stolen or scammed payment flows.
  • Don’t list non-physical items (services, subscriptions, digital-only products, rentals) in a Marketplace-facing product catalog; that inventory belongs in a different surface.
  • Keep pricing on the feed in sync with your actual checkout price. A mismatch is one of the most common causes of catalog items being disapproved.
  • Repeated or severe violations can restrict your ability to advertise across your whole Business Account, not just the one catalog.
